Weekly Message from Mrs Warren

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a lovely week we have had together, with some beautiful autumn sunshine too!

Our children have been busy living out our school mission of loving, learning and praying together. Our Care for Creation posters, created for Creation Sunday, will be displayed in church, reminding us of our responsibility to care for God’s wonderful world.  This week, our children visited our special visitors of the feathered variety! Our chicks have now been collected and safely taken to a local farm.

We have also celebrated our new School Councillors, Eco Warriors and Faith Disciples, who have proudly received their badges and are ready to share their ideas and make a difference.

It was lovely to welcome Fr Albert, who visited classes to pray the Rosary with the children. Today, we are supporting CAFOD Family Fast Day, coming together in prayer and solidarity with communities around the world.  If you would like to make a kind donation, please visit the school office.

Looking ahead to next week, we look forward to our Year 2 Stay and Pray on Thursday and our Reception Phonics and Reading Meeting for parents on Wednesday.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It has been a joyful week filled with faith, friendship, learning and lots of smiles. Have a wonderful weekend!

With every blessing.

Wednesday Word

The Wednesday Word is a special resource that helps families share the Sunday Gospel together.  We encourage you to spend a little time together each week reading and talking about the Wednesday Word as a family.

Wednesday Word

Creation and Covenant - Branch 1

This half-term, the theme for our Religious Education Curriculum Branch is Creation and Covenant.  ‘The heavens are telling the glory of God’ (Ps 19:1).   In this branch, pupils will encounter the God who creates and calls all people. They will explore the revelation of the Christian belief that all that is comes from God, the Creation accounts in Genesis, and scientific explanations of the process of Creation. They will explore the call of God and his covenantal relationship with his people first through Abraham and Moses, then through the narrative of the Old Testament.

Safety Message from School Crossing Patrol Service

Pedestrians

Please do not allow children to run ahead of you to the crossing site. Please arrive together at the crossing ready to cross the road. Would parent/carers please hold the hands of younger children when crossing.  Thank you.

Would pedestrians please remain on the safety of the kerb until the patrol is in the middle of the road. Great Knightley drivers can be affected by low sun which affects driver’s visibility of pedestrians and the patrol in the road, therefore please wait until the patrol has entered the road to the halfway point and has ensured traffic is stopping on both sides so as to reduce the risk of an accident. When the patrol is established in the middle of the road, they will advise you when it is safe to cross. Thank you.

Bikes/Scooters

At all school crossings in Essex, we request that pupils do not ride over the zebra crossing on bikes and scooters. Most of the St Anne Line pupils do not dismount, and this compromises the safety of other pupils and for the patrol at their place of work.   We would appreciate if parents can encourage pupils to dismount at this school crossing.  This is also good practise for when children get older and cross the road unaccompanied, as by dismounting, they will dismount and be able to give their full attention to approaching traffic. Thank you.

Drivers

Would parent drivers refrain from parking close to the school crossing site. Parking near the crossing reduces the visibility of traffic for the patrol and the visibility for drivers of the patrol. The double yellow lines are there to improve safety and I have requested that the Enforcement Team monitor this area to improve safety for all St Anne Pupils. Thank you.

Could you help our Parish community?

Our Lady & All Saints Parish is looking for new volunteers!

We would love to hear from parents, grandparents and members of our wider parish community who might be able to support us in either of the following ways:

🙏 Children’s Liturgy Volunteers
We are looking for more volunteers to help run our Children’s Liturgy during Sunday Mass. This is a lovely opportunity to help our younger parishioners explore the Gospel and grow in their faith in an engaging and age-appropriate way.

🎉 Parish Social Committee
We are also looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Parish Social Committee. We would love some new faces and fresh ideas to help us plan and run exciting social events that bring together families and members of our whole parish community.

Whether you can help regularly or simply lend a hand from time to time, we would be delighted to hear from you!
