Weekly Message from Mrs Clayton
We have had a busy week in school, with a well attended 'Meet the Teacher' this afternoon, a visit from our RE diocesan advisor and an amazing Pilgrims walk along the seafront in Southend to celebrate the Jubilee year with our fellow Trust schools. The staff and children have worked hard to demonstrate all that is fantastic about our Infant school and I felt immensely proud of their behaviour both in school and out in public. I am looking forward to the Big Help Out in the morning and hope to see lots of you here. It is a great way to start the school year and welcome new families to our school community. Don't forget your gardening gloves and tools! There will be tea and bacon sandwiches for the workers!
Have a lovely weekend with your families.

Creation and Covenant - Branch 1
This half-term, the theme for our Religious Education Curriculum Branch is Creation and Covenant. ‘The heavens are telling the glory of God’ (Ps 19:1). In this branch, pupils will encounter the God who creates and calls all people. They will explore the revelation of the Christian belief that all that is comes from God, the Creation accounts in Genesis, and scientific explanations of the process of Creation. They will explore the call of God and his covenantal relationship with his people first through Abraham and Moses, then through the narrative of the Old Testament.

Religious Education and Prayer Life in School
As part of our Religious Education and prayer life in school, the children in Key Stage 1 are learning some of the traditional Catholic prayers.
This term, we are focusing on:
-
The Our Father
-
The Hail Mary
-
The Glory Be
We would be very grateful if you could help your child by practising these prayers at home together. Learning them will support their understanding of our faith and allow them to join in confidently during school and parish worship.
Thank you for your support in helping the children grow in prayer.

Online Safety Zone
Deciding what’s appropriate for children to see online
The online world gives us access to a huge amount of information and services, but the scale of information available also means that there is content that is inappropriate for children. What is or isn’t appropriate is up to individual parents and carers to decide, and could be based on things like age, ability, beliefs and family values.
What are parental controls?
Parental controls allow you to block and filter upsetting or inappropriate content. They work across your WiFi, phone network, individual apps and devices.
Parental controls can help you to:
-
plan what time of day your child can go online and how long for
-
create content filters to block apps that may have inappropriate content
-
manage the content different family members can see.
Click the image below or use this link to visit the NSPCC website for more advice on how to set up parental controls. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/parental-controls/
