Weekly Message from Mrs Clayton
It’s been a wonderful and meaningful week in our school community.
We were delighted to welcome our School Improvement Partner, Mrs Parker, who enjoyed visiting classes and seeing the excellent Religious Education learning happening across the school. Thank you to all the staff and pupils who showcased their work so confidently. Our thanks also go to the NHS team who led an Oral Hygiene Coffee Morning for parents. It was a great opportunity to learn practical tips for supporting children’s dental health.
On Tuesday, the school came together for our Remembrance Assembly, followed by a respectful two-minute silence to honour all those who have served and sacrificed. This afternoon, pupils enjoyed a lively Children in Need Dance-Off, helping to raise money for this important cause.
We were very pleased to see so many families in school for Parents’ Evening on Wednesday—your partnership and support mean so much.
Looking ahead, The World Day of the Poor will be observed this Sunday. This day— established by Pope Francis— invites us to reflect on poverty and to recognise the poor as protagonists of hope, inspired by the theme “You are my hope” (Psalm 71:5).
Wishing everyone a restful weekend.

Headteacher's Award

Ejiro (Herons) won the Headteacher’s Award this week for always showing great kindness and being a great role model. At snack time this week, Ejiro chose a piece of fruit. This was the last fruit and another child also wanted it, Ejiro kindly gave this to her friend instead. Well done!

Governor Welcome
We would like to tell you about our new School Governor, Alexandra Iguh-Ofoma. Here are a few words about her.
Hello, my name is Alexandra Iguh-Ofoma, and I am delighted to be joining the Governing Body at St Anne Line Infant School. I am a mum of two, both of whom attend the school, and it has been a joy watching them grow in such a nurturing and faith-filled environment.
I currently work within the NHS as a Patient Experience Midwife, supporting women and families during pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period. My work is rooted in compassion, listening, and ensuring that every family feels heard and respected.
As a practising Catholic, I am deeply passionate about Catholic education and the role faith plays in guiding children to grow in kindness, confidence, and purpose. I chose to become a governor because I believe in the strong values and community spirit at St Anne Line, and I am committed to helping continue to foster a loving, inclusive and supportive environment where every child can flourish academically, spiritually, and emotionally. I look forward to working alongside the school, families and parish community.

RE Newsletter
Prophecy and Promise - Branch 2
This half-term, the theme for our Religious Education Curriculum Branch is Prophecy and Promise.
In this branch, pupils will explore the Christian understanding of the teaching of the prophets as they point to the fulfilment of God’s promise in a messiah, Jesus Christ. They will explore the expectant waiting for the Messiah through the Advent season and how this speaks to Christians today as they wait for Christ. Pupils will encounter the story of the nativity of Jesus and the mystery of the incarnation.

Year 1 History – Toys in the Past!
Today we had a very special visitor Mrs Warman's dad came in to talk to Year 1 all about toys from the past.
The children loved hearing his stories, seeing old-fashioned toys, and learning how playtime has changed over the years. Such a wonderful way to bring our History topic to life!
Thank you so much for visiting!

Year 2 – Exploring the Magnificat Through Art
Our Year 2 children have been reflecting on Mary's Magnificat her beautiful song of joy and praise to God.
Using soft pastels, the children expressed the themes of joy, light, and gratitude, creating vibrant artwork inspired by Mary's faith and trust in God.
Each piece shows how our young artists see God's love shining through Mary's words.

Reception have been enjoying a firework-themed week!
They explored emotions through the story 'The Quiet Little Firework', used their phonics to describe exciting firework sounds , and practised cutting skills by matching numerals to quantities.
The children also strengthened their fine motor skills making 'sparklers' in playdough and created their own firework artwork full of colour and sparkle!

Online Safety Zone
What is Roblox? Parents’ guide to playing safely

How can I help my child stay safe while playing Roblox?
If you’re one of the many parents who grapple with this question, explore the full guide below to build your confidence.
https://www.internetmatters.org/advice/apps-and-platforms/online-gaming/roblox/

Roblox is an online platform where users create and share their own games using simple tools. Because the content is user-generated, it doesn’t go through the same strict age ratings as commercial games. PEGI now recommends parental guidance (PEGI !) due to the wide range of content available.
Talking to strangers
Being an online game means that players in Roblox can interact and communicate with each other in various ways. This can be via voice or written text once friend requests have been made.
While parents might worry about children talking to strangers, it’s important to remember that most strangers are not predators. However, some strangers might target your child if they seem vulnerable.
Make sure your child understands that:
-
They should never share personal information like their address, school or anything else (even if the person says they live in a different country);
-
Some people are not who they say they are, so it’s better to be cautious;
-
They can come to you if they have any questions or concerns (and you will respond calmly and without judgement);
-
There are signs that someone might be targeting them for grooming, scams or other issues;
-
They can and should make use of the in-game reporting and blocking features if someone makes them uncomfortable.
