Whole School Curriculum Statement

Intent

At St Anne Line Catholic Infant School and Nursery, we strive to instil a lifelong love of learning, with Christ at the centre of all we do. Guided by our school motto “En Magna Constantia” – In Great Constancy, we aim to nurture pupils who remain steadfast in faith, hope, and perseverance, always striving to reach their full potential.

Our school is a place where the emotional, spiritual, physical, academic, social, moral and cultural development of every child is deeply valued. We believe that childhood is sacred – a time to be filled with awe and wonder, joy, and discovery.

We are proud to be a Catholic learning community, where every child is recognised as a unique and cherished child of God. We model the Gospel values and teachings of Jesus Christ in everything we do. Inspired by the life of St Anne Line, we encourage courage, compassion and commitment in the face of all challenges.

Our Gospel Values

Our three school values are rooted in the Beatitudes and shaped by our Catholic identity:

• Love: We show love to others, just as Jesus taught us.
• Learn: We grow in knowledge and wisdom, guided by curiosity and wonder.
• Pray: We find strength and stillness in prayer, knowing God walks with us.

These values are intentionally simple, memorable and meaningful for our youngest learners, and are brought to life across the curriculum through Scripture, RE, worship, and the lives of saints and role models.

Implementation

Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the needs of all learners. It:

• Ensures full coverage of the National Curriculum
• Prioritises strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics
• Enriches learning through faith formation, personal development and cultural capital

We implement our curriculum through:

High-quality instruction: modelling, chunking, vocabulary-rich environments, and skilful questioning

Adaptation and inclusion: scaffolds, support, interventions, and challenge

Assessment for learning: feedback, marking, pupil conferencing, and responsive teaching

Memory and mastery: prior knowledge, repetition, retrieval, and cross-curricular links

EYFS Approach

In our Early Years, learning is child-led and grounded in “Planning in the Moment.” Children build on prior knowledge, revisiting key concepts and developing mastery in a rich, language-filled environment.

KS1 Model

In Key Stage 1, learning is carefully scaffolded through subject-specific knowledge taught within creative and cross-curricular themes, supported by high-quality resources and environments that promote independence and resilience.

Enrichment

We enhance our curriculum through:

• Outdoor learning, trips and visitors
• Themed days and weeks (e.g., Arts Week, Science Week)
• Collective worship, liturgies and Masses
• School council, pupil voice and charity work
• Clubs, music, PE and extra-curricular opportunities

We are proud to be an Early Excellence Partner School, sharing good practice in EYFS and KS1 education across our local area.
