We have 2 classes in year 1, Herons and Kingfishers. 

There is a clearly planned and smooth transition from Reception into Year 1 to ensure all pupils are ready and confident to take the next steps in their learning.

Phonics is taught through Read Write Inc to develop children's reading skills and prepare them for the Phonic Screening Check at the end of Year 1.

Maths is taught through the mastery approach with a focus on number fluency and application of understanding through reasoning and problem solving.

The foundation subjects are taught through an enquiry-approach, where children ask and answer "big questions" and guide their own learning, supported by hands on, real resources and experiences.
